PAKISTAN PREQUALIFICATIONAFREZIAZSUPPLY COMPANIES PRECAST CONCRETE PARABOLIC SEGMENTS (PCPS) FOR WATERCOURSE LINING UNDER PUNJAB IRRIGATED-AGRICULTURE. PROTOUCTTVTTY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT (PIPIP)
Government of the Punjab (GO Punjab) has signed agreement for a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) for implementation of the Punjab Irrigated-Agriculture Productivity Improvement Project (PIPIP) to be implemented for a period of five years (2012-13 to 201,, and intends to apply part of its proceeds for payments to the farmers for procurement of precast concrete parabolic segrnents (PCPS) for watercourse lining. 2. The overall project development objective (PDO) is to improve water productivity i.e. producing more crop per drop. It will be achieved through i) improving productivity of irrigation water by efficient conveyance and its effective farm level use by adopting conservation agricultural practices; ii) production of more profitable crops through hi. efficiency irrigation systems (HEISs) for meeting increasing domestic demand and enhancing exports; iii) strengthening the private sector service delivery capacity and sustainability for supporting irrigated agriculture; and iv) capacity building of stakeholders in better managing irrigation water for attaining higher crop yield with less production costs.

The project envisages improvement of 5,500 canal watercourses, completion of lining on 1,500 partially improved canal watercourses, and rehabilitation of 2,000 irrigation schemes in non-canal commanded areas of the province during project period besid. promotion of other water management interventions. The watercourses are improved by the Water Users Associations (WUAs) with financial assistance of the government for construction materials under technical supervision of OFWM field staff. All types of construction materials including nakkas and precast concrete parabolic segments will be procured by WUAs from firms prequalifiul by the government for the purpose. Goverrunent of the Pt.. has decided to promote precast concrete parabolic segments (PCPS) as alternate technology for watercourse lining under P1PIP w. the choic.e of the farmers arid its technical feasibility The firms involved in precast concrete business will be prequalified for supply of PCPS for the purpose. The prequalification process will be carried out at provincial level and prequalified firms will be eligible for carrying out works in all districts of the Punjab. 4. Directorate General Agriculture, Water Management (DGA-WM) invites eligible firm, consortium/ joint venture with specific and proven competence and experience in precast concrete business to indicate their interest. Eligible firm(s)/joint venture(s) should submit their applications in English language alongwith relevant complete details to enable DGA (WM) to prepare a short list of eligible firm(syjoint venture(s) for participation in subsequent proceedings of the project as supply companies. 5. 6. The proposals/ applications will be received in the office of Director General Ag,riculture (Water Management) Punjab, Lahore at following address till 17 March 2014 during office hours. A prequalification committee will evaluate the proposals and decide about acceptance/ rejection of proposals/ offers. The committee has the right to reject all or any of the proposals/ offers without assigning any reason. 7.
